What is Blue Roll?

Blue Centrefeed RollsBlue roll is everywhere. It’s an essential item in commercial settings such as restaurants and cafes, for keeping surfaces clean, absorbing water, and preventing the spread of germs.  Globally, we get through alot – schools, hospitals, shops and offices all consume rolls and rolls of it! The global tissue paper market size, in which blue roll sits, was valued at USD 90.99 billion in 2024. The market is projected to grow from USD 96.57 billion in 2025 to USD 154.54. (Source)

However blue roll isn’t the most environmentally friendly option available.  It is manufactured by mixing recycled and new pulp fibres before being treated with other chemicals to make them stronger and more durable. Before adding blue dye, the fibres are washed through with bleach to ensure consistency of colour. This process uses hundreds of thousands of gallons of water – and alot of electricity.

It also cannot be recycled, even when unsoiled, due to the synthetic dyes and chemicals that are added to the paper during the manufacturing process.

Cartier Carrara have created a new range of products using used packaging or waste cardboard as the raw materials. The range combines quality products with a respect for the environment, contributing to the reduction of the volume of waste sent to landfill, something that benefits the planet and future generations.

Their range of products are made from 100% recycled raw materials with Ecolabel certification – one of the highest awards for environmental compliance.

The tissue is very high quality, soft and absorbent, yet retains excellent wet strength due to the plies of tissue being heat laminated together.

The natural Havana colour comes from the recycled pulp being unbleached and the natural colour of the original wood pulp.

Their brown (unbleached) roll is fast becoming one of our most popular products.
